1926 Château Margaux (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux) 3/24/2004 Joe Belmaati 94
Light red with a glow fading from brown to orange. Leather and figs on the nose. The bouquet revealed additional notes of marcipan, band-aid (and glue) with air. In the mouth the wine was very intense, complex, dense, structured and packed with ripe fruit, releasing ever-evolving layers of complexity and dimension, delivered with incredible precision, tonnes of personality and character, and elegance and finesse for days. Simply a brilliant and perfectly mature wine (or should I say bottle?) and in hindsight my score is probably too conservative, as this stands as one of the most memorable wines of the night.
