The winery Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen on the Saar in the Mosel region and is one of the most exclusive and best wineries in Germany and even the world. The estate is since 1797 in family possession. Egon Müller IV has been running the business since 1991. Already his father, Egon Müller III, set the business on the course to produce top-quality wines of the highest quality and repeatedly bought the best locations. Altogether, the family cultivates 16 hectares of vineyards and produces about 80,000 bottles of wine per year.

The very best bottles from his assortment do not get into the regular wine trade at all, but are offered every year at the VDP auction. There are enough expensive wines. The "Paradelage" of the domain is the Scharzhofberg. This vineyard is world famous and is one of the highest quality single layers in Germany. The winery Egon Müller-Scharzhof cultivates 8 hectares in this location, which is planted exclusively with Riesling vines, making it the largest shareholder. Here arise the wines that meet the highest standards of luxury and enjoyment. Whether cabinet, Auslese, Beerenauslese or Trockenbeerenauslese - the name Egon Müller-Scharzhof stands for the highest quality in the area of sweet wines.
The wine is characterized by an extreme longevity and reaches partially only after 15 years its optimal drinking window. Some Auslese wines may well be 25 years or longer. So that the luxury of these noble wines is not clouded by cork faults, in 2015 the decision was made to switch from corks to screw caps. However, only with the entry-level qualities, the expensive rarities of course remain traditionally provided with natural cork.
The wines of Egon Müller-Scharzhof are luxury and they are among the most expensive wines in the world. But they are expensive, because over many years they have always met the highest demands and because they only reach the wine trade in small quantities in this quality.
