Springbank: Unique whisky from Campbeltown
Springbank is one of the last independent whisky distilleries in Scotland and one of the three active distilleries in Campbeltown, once known as the "Whisky Capital of the World". Founded in 1828, the distillery is now owned by the Mitchell family and is renowned for its traditional craftsmanship and characterful single malt.
What makes Springbank special is the fact that it is the only distillery in Scotland to carry out the entire production process itself - from malting the barley to bottling. The barley is malted on site, partially dried with peat and distilled in traditional copper pot stills. Springbank uses a unique two-and-a-half distillation process, which gives the whisky a special complexity.
The Springbank single malt is unmistakable: it combines maritime notes, light smokiness, fruity flavours of apple and citrus as well as a mineral spiciness. Depending on the bottling, the whisky is matured in bourbon, sherry or rum casks, which gives it a wide variety of flavours. The limited bottlings of the "Local Barley" series or the strongly peaty "Longrow" are particularly popular.
Springbank stands for authenticity and perfect craftsmanship. Each bottle tells the story of a distillery that is committed to tradition and yet never ceases to surprise. A whisky for connoisseurs that keeps Campbeltown's heritage alive.
