In the heart of the Rheingau, in Hattenheim, Schloss Schönbornis one of the most historically significant wine estates in Germany. Owned by the noble family of the same name since 1349, the estate cultivates 50 hectares of vineyards in prime locations such as Hattenheimer Pfaffenberg, Erbacher Marcobrunn and Rauenthaler Baiken. This traditional estate combines centuries-old winemaking tradition with modern precision work like no other.
What makes the wines from Schloss Schönborn so special is their deep roots in the Rheingau terroir. The mineral Rieslings - from the dry Kabinett to the noble sweet Trockenbeerenauslese - are characterised by their clear structure and long-lasting elegance. The wines from the Erbacher Marcobrunn, whose complex salinity and refined peach flavours reflect the unique character of this ancient site, have become particularly famous.
The winery has relied on careful vinification for generations: spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, long maturation on fine lees and moderate wood influences characterise the unmistakable style. Legendary vintages such as 1921, 1937, 1959, 1971, 1989 and 2005 prove the exceptional ageing potential of these wines.
