The Joh. Jos. Prüm wineryhas been making wine history on the steep slate slopes of the Moselle since 1911. As one of the world's most renowned Riesling estates, it embodies the perfect symbiosis of traditional winemaking and unique terroir. Today, the Prüm family cultivates 13.5 hectares of vines in the legendary Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich and Zeltinger Sonnenuhr vineyards - all steep slopes with ancient blue Devonian slate, which give the Riesling its unmistakable minerality.
What makes Prüm Rieslings so special is their crystalline clarity combined with depth and longevity. The grapes are always hand-picked and the musts ferment slowly with natural yeasts. The result is wines of seismographic precision - whether off-dry or dry, always characterised by lively acidity, delicate peach tones and that characteristic slate note. The Spätlese and Auslese wines from the Sonnenuhr vineyards develop a breathtaking complexity over decades.
Legendary vintages such as 1971, 1976 and 2019show why Prüm Rieslings are among the most coveted collector's trophies. Today, the family is still running the estate in the fourth generation with the same modesty and dedication that characterised the founder. Joh. Jos. Prüm thus remains the undisputed reference estate for Mosel Riesling in its purest form.
