Egon Müller Winery - The crowning glory of Mosel Riesling

At the foot of the steep slopes of the Scharzhofberg lies the Egon Müller zu Scharzhof wine estate, one of the most legendary addresses in German wine culture. Owned by the Müller family since 1797, the estate produces some of the most sought-after and long-lived Rieslings in the world. The centrepiece is the famous Scharzhofberg vineyard, whose ancient Devonian slate soils give the wines their incomparable mineral elegance.

What makes Egon Müller's Rieslings so unique is their perfect balance between concentrated fruit and delicate acidity. From the delicately tart Kabinett to the tropically dense Trockenbeerenauslese - each wine reflects the terroir with incredibly clear precision. The grapes are hand-picked in several stages and the musts ferment slowly in traditional vats. The result is wines of timeless beauty that mature for decades.

Legendary vintages such as 1959, 1971, 1976 and 2015 show why Egon Müller Rieslings achieve top prices at auctions. The famous Scharzhofberger Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese is considered by many to be the epitome of German wine culture and achieved a record auction price at the VDP auction in the 2003 vintage, which still stands today.

To this day, Egon Müller IV runs the winery in the eighth generation with the same modesty and dedication as his ancestors. Without compromise, but with deep respect for tradition, he creates wines year after year that carry the Saar Valley into the world.
