Coche-Dury: Iconic precision in Burgundy
The Coche-Dury winery, based in Meursault, is one of the most legendary estates in Burgundy. Founded by Jean Coche in the 1920s, it was his son Jean-François Coche-Dury in particular who made the estate famous worldwide from the 1970s onwards. Today, Raphaël Coche is continuing the tradition and preserving the legacy of perfect craftsmanship.
Coche-Dury is synonymous with exceptional white wines that combine elegance and complexity. The estate cultivates around 9 hectares, including renowned sites such as Meursault-Perrières (Premier Cru), Corton-Charlemagne(Grand Cru) and plots in Puligny-Montrachet. The wines, predominantly from Chardonnay, are characterised by mineral depth, vibrant acidity and a unique balance between power and finesse.
The philosophy is based on minimal intervention: selective hand-picking, spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts and ageing for several years in old oak barrels. The Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru in particular is considered the epitome of long-lasting Burgundy class - dense, complex and of seismic depth. The Meursault Blanc cuvées, especially the Perrières, are also cult wines with a mythical aura.
Despite its modest size, Coche-Dury enjoys cult status among collectors. The limited vintages fetch top prices and are among the most sought-after white wines in the world. The secret lies in the details: meticulous work in the vineyard, low yields and an almost obsessive dedication to the purity of the terroir.
Coche-Dury epitomises the ultimate in Burgundian winemaking - timeless, inimitable and of hypnotic beauty. A heritage that sets standards and captures the magic of Burgundy in every bottle.
