Château Grand-Puy-Ducasse - Classic elegance from Pauillac
Château Grand-Puy-Ducasse is a Fifth Grand Cru Classé from the renowned Pauillac appellation in Bordeaux. The estate has a long history dating back to the 17th century and is located in close proximity to famous neighbours such as Château Latour and Château Mouton Rothschild. Its name is derived from its location on a small hill ("Puy"), which offers the vines optimal sunlight and drainage.
The approximately 40 hectares of vineyards are planted with around 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot - a classic composition for deep, long-lasting Pauillac wines. The gravelly soil gives the wines structure, mineral finesse and typical aromas of blackcurrant, cedar wood and tobacco.
Since 2004, the estate has been part of the CA Grands Crus group, which has invested in modern cellar technology and sustainable viticulture. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel tanks before the wine matures for 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels.
Château Grand-Puy-Ducasse epitomises the characteristic power and elegance of Pauillac: a wine with firm tannins, a complex bouquet and great ageing potential. Year after year, it proves why it is one of the best cru classé wines in the Médoc - a true classic for Bordeaux lovers.
