Château Clinet - A top estate from Pomerol
Château Clin et is one of the most renowned wine estates in Pomerol, one of the most prestigious appellations in Bordeaux. Although it is not officially classified, it enjoys a worldwide reputation for its opulent, complex Merlot-based red wines.
Terroir and grape varieties
The vineyard is located on a clayey gravel plateau, which offers ideal conditions for deep, mineral wines. The vineyards cover around 11 hectares, with Merlot (85%) dominating, supplemented by Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). Grapes of the highest quality are produced through selective harvesting and strict selection.
Vinification and ageing
Château Clinet favours the gentlest possible processing: fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, after which the wine matures for 16-18 months in new French barriques (70-100% new barrels, depending on the vintage). The result is wines with velvety tannins, aromas of ripe plums, truffles, chocolate and liquorice and a long shelf life.
Significant vintages and market position
Legendary vintages such as 1989, 2009 and 2015 are among the best Pomerols ever. The wine is regularly awarded over 95 points by critics such as Robert Parker and is highly sought after by collectors.
Château Clinet epitomises the elegance and power of Pomerol to perfection. With its balanced structure and aromatic depth, it is one of the top products on the right side of Bordeaux - a wine for connoisseurs and lovers of first-class red wines.
