Château Clarke - A Rothschild legacy in the heart of the Médoc
Château Clarke is a renowned wine estate in the Bordeaux region of Listrac-Médoc and has belonged to the famous Edmond de Rothschild family since 1973. Known for its balanced and aromatic red wines, the estate combines modern winemaking techniques with traditional craftsmanship.
The estate has a long history dating back to the 12th century. It took its name from the Irish monks of Vertheuil Abbey, who once cultivated vines here. After changing owners, Baron Edmond de Rothschild acquired the estate and invested heavily in modernising the vineyards and cellars. Today, the estate comprises 54 hectares of vineyards, on which mainly Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) are cultivated.
The wines from Château Clarke are characterised by their deep structure, fruity aromas and elegant tannins. As a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, the estate is one of the top wine estates in the Médoc. In addition to the main wine Château Clarke, the estate also produces a second wine, Le Merle de Clarke, which is more accessible and ready to drink earlier.
The estate also impresses with its architectural beauty and sustainable cultivation. The Rothschild family attaches great importance to organic viticulture and uses innovative methods.
With its excellent wine quality and fascinating history, Château Clarke is an important part of the Bordeaux heritage - a wine estate that perfectly combines tradition and modernity.
