Château Carbonnieux - The white pearl of Graves
Château Carbonnieux, located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, is one of the oldest and most renowned wine estates in the Graves region. Particularly known for its exceptional white wines, which are among the best Bordeaux Blancs, the estate has been producing both white and red wines of outstanding quality since the 13th century.
With 92 hectares of vineyards (46 hectares of which are used for white wines), Carbonnieux mainly cultivates Sauvignon Blanc (65%) and Sémillon (35%) for its white wines and Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (30%) and Cabernet Franc (10%) for its red wines. The barren gravel and sandy soils of the Graves give the wines their distinctive minerality and freshness.
The white wines are characterised by their lively acidity, complex aromas of citrus fruit, white peach and a smoky note, while the red wines impress with their elegant structure and aromas of blackcurrant and cedar wood.
The Perrin family has been running the estate since 1956, focussing on traditional methods and sustainable cultivation. Special vintages such as 2017, 2019 and 2020demonstrate the class of this winery. Château Carbonnieux is a must for lovers of elegant Bordeaux wines - its white wines in particular are true rarities.
