Château Beau-Site - A wine of strong character from Saint-Estèphe
Château Beau-Site is a traditional wine estate in the northern Bordeaux appellation of Saint-Estèphe, which has been owned by the Castéja family since 1850 - the same family that runs the famous Château Batailley in Pauillac. As a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, the estate produces wines full of character that are typical of the powerful and tannic nature of the Saint-Estèphe appellation.
The approximately 50 hectares of vineyards lie on clayey, gravelly soils that provide ideal conditions for the Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (35%) and Petit Verdot (5%) grape varieties. Due to its proximity to the Gironde, the vines benefit from a temperate microclimate. The wines from Château Beau-Site impress with their dark berry flavours, paired with notes of spices, tobacco and a mineral character. Thanks to their balanced acidity and firm tannins, they are excellent for ageing.
During vinification, the estate favours gentle grape processing and a moderate ageing phase in French oak barrels (30-40% new). In addition to the Grand Vin, the more accessible second wine "Château Picard" is also produced.
Château Beau-Site stands for authentic, terroir-influenced Bordeaux - a wine with power and finesse that epitomises the typical rustic elegance of Saint-Estèphe.
