Bladnoch - The rebirth of a Lowland classic

Bladnoch is the most southerly whisky distillery in Scotland and looks back on an eventful history. Founded in 1817, the distillery experienced several closures and reopenings over the years before being taken over and revitalised by Australian entrepreneur David Prior in 2015. Today, Bladnoch stands for modern interpretations of Lowland whiskies that combine tradition with innovative approaches.

Bladnoch is characterised by the light, floral-fresh character that is typical of Lowland whiskies. The distillery relies on slow fermentation and careful distillation to develop elegant flavours. The unpeated malts impress with notes of green apples, fresh hay and a delicate citrus flavour, complemented by mild vanilla tones from the bourbon cask maturation.

Bladnoch attracts particular attention with its limited edition bottlings such as Vinaya, which combines sherry and bourbon casks, or the heavier Samsara, which was matured in ex-Australian red wine casks. These experiments demonstrate the distillery's endeavour to carefully develop the classic Lowland style.

As one of the few independent distilleries in Scotland, Bladnoch attaches great importance to sustainability and local production. The revitalisation of the traditional distillery is considered a success story - it proves that exciting whiskies can also be created in the Lowlands.

Today, Bladnoch stands for the future of the Scottish whisky tradition: respectful of history, but open to new ideas. A whisky that combines the lightness of the Lowlands with modern elegance.
