Domaine Denis Bachelet - Burgundian perfection in bottles

Domaine Denis Bachelet is one of the best but also most discreet wine estates in the Côte de Nuits. The modest winegrower has been cultivating just 4.5 hectares of vines in tranquil Gevrey-Chambertin since the 1980s - but the quality of his wines is legendary.

Bachelet's fame is based above all on his Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, which is regularly counted among the greatest Burgundy wines of the appellation. His wines combine powerful structure with silky elegance and breathtaking complexity. They are characterised by aromas of ripe cherries, violets, fine spices and a mineral precision that perfectly reflects the terroir.

The winemaker works according to traditional methods with minimal intervention: Hand-picking, natural yeasts, long ageing in oak barrels. Bachelet favours absolute ripeness and perfect grape health - his plots are among the latest harvested in the region.

Although production is tiny (often only 1000 bottles per year of the Grand Cru), Bachelet's wines are among the most sought-after Burgundies in the world. They show what is possible when the greatest dedication meets outstanding sites. Each bottle is a precious document of Burgundian craftsmanship - mature to perfection, but already beguilingly beautiful in its youth.
