Pol Roger - British elegance with a French soul
Since 1849, the name Pol Roger has stood for the perfect symbiosis of British understatement and champagne mastery. The independent family business from Épernay is one of the last great privately owned champagne houses and still maintains a special relationship with Great Britain today - not least because of its long-standing connection to Winston Churchill, whose favourite champagne to this day is the legendary Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill.
Pol Roger's champagnes are characterised by their crystalline clarity and exceptional longevity. The Pol Roger Brut Réserve, a harmonious blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, impresses with its fresh citrus notes and creamy texture, while the Blanc de Blancs cuvée displays the pure elegance of Chardonnay with mineral precision.
The house relies on particularly long ageing on the lees (up to twice as long as prescribed) and a discreet dosage that emphasises the natural finesse of the wines. Prestige cuvées such as the Vintage or the Rosé develop a fascinating complexity over the years.
