Heidsieck Monopole - The blue pearl of Champagne

Since 1785, the Heidsieck Monopole champagne house has epitomised the classic elegance of Champagne with its iconic blue label. As the oldest of the three Heidsieck dynasties (alongside Piper-Heidsieck and Charles Heidsieck), the house in Reims has specialised in powerful, pinot noir-dominated champagnes that have always delighted the British aristocracy - no wonder the bottles have been allowed to bear the royal coat of arms since 1886.

Heidsieck Monopoles champagnes are characterised by their structured finesse and aromatic depth. The Blue Top Brut, a blend of 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier, develops notes of ripe apples, almonds and a subtle hint of spice. The prestige cuvée Diamant Bleu, produced only in excellent vintages, matures on the lees for seven years and then displays a complex range of aromas of candied fruit, honey and delicate roasted flavours.

The historic Dry Monopole deserves special mention, with its unusually high dosage (35 g/l) reminiscent of 19th century English favourites. The house favours grapes from Grand Cru vineyards and traditional vinification - a third of the wines are matured in oak barrels.

A glass of Heidsieck Monopole is like a piece of living champagne history - aristocratic, timeless and impeccably balanced.
