Champagne Germain - The quiet pearl of the Côte des Bar

In the heart of southern Champagne, off the beaten track, the family-run Champagne house Germain has been cultivating a very special champagne philosophy since 1896. As one of the last independent producers in the Côte des Bar - a region known for its chalky soils and Pinot Noir-dominated style - the house stands for artisanal perfection on a small scale.

Champagne Germain's creations are characterised by their unadulterated terroir expression. The Germain Brut Tradition, an assemblage of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, develops notes of red berries, white pepper and a refreshing minerality. The prestige cuvée Cuvée Saint Vincent (dedicated to the patron saint of winegrowers) matures on the lees for at least five years and then reveals aromas of dried fruit, honey and a delicate roasted flavour.

The Germain Rosé de Saignée, whose intense colour and powerful structure are the result of a 48-hour maceration period, deserves special mention. The house consistently refrains from using chemical herbicides and favours natural cultivation.

A glass of Champagne Germain is like an insider tip - authentic, undisguised and full of character.
