Ch. Cheval Blanc 1926: One of the greatest wines I've ever tasted, better even than the 1921, even the 1947 at least back in 1967 when I first tasted it at a Berry Bros. dinner. While it was not deep in colour and had a mahogany brown rim, it proved to be the most complete, rich and certainly the sweetest and most balanced wine imaginable. Two bottles had been decanted four hours before serving. I couldn't believe it was Bordeaux and, rather rudely, walked to the window facing St James Street with my glass to better appreciate the colour and focus on the honeyed nose and rich flavour. I thought it was a great Burgundy. More good reviews in the 1970s. Later a magnum in good condition, delicate and fading, but with finesse and great length. Last tasted in May 1987 ***** It should still be great. (Source Broadbent's wine notes).
