Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux - Moulis' terroir-emphasised character wine
Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux is a remarkable wine estate from the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation, which is known for its powerful yet elegant wines. As a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel (since 2020), the estate is one of the top producers in the region. The vineyards cover 18 hectares on the typical gravel and clay soils, which give the wines their distinctive structure and mineral depth.
The grape varieties consist of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot - a balanced composition that gives the wine both power and finesse. Due to its proximity to its famous neighbours from Margaux, the grapes benefit from similarly favourable climatic conditions, but develop their own unmistakable character.
The winemaking follows traditional methods with modern precision: hand-picking, gentle fermentation and ageing in French oak barrels (30% new) for 12 to 14 months. The result is profound wines with flavours of ripe black fruits, spices and a fine toasted note, supported by supple tannins and long freshness.
Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux epitomises the best of Moulis - a terroir wine with a distinct personality that will delight both young and after years of ageing. An outstanding representative of the often underestimated but qualitatively convincing Crus Bourgeois.
